Bounding Box dimension

Is there a way to show the dimensions of a Bounding Box around a scanned object? Does Revoscan v5.3.3 provide this information?

Hi @Chrispy

No, there are no functions showing measurements of the scan.

You can use Revo Measure or free software like Cloud Compare.

ok, thanks for that confirmation. Others have confirmed there is no measure function in the core RecoScan software. However, I have an small regular object that is exactly 210 mm long; I’ve scanned it with a Revo Mini. Both Meshlab and another product show the object to be 146 mm long. I don’t know that it matters too much to my purpose but I’m intrigued by the output from Revo that is about 30% smaller.
(I haven’t checked to see if the height is also 30% shorter. I’ll do that.)

That is quite odd. I’d say first make sure you are on the latest rev of the software. Revoscan 5.3.3 is pretty old, newest version is 5.5.5. Then I’d run a calibration on your scanner. Scan again and see if you get the same result.

Good advice, Nick, I’ll take those steps and see what happens. Will post results when I’ve retried.

Hi @Chrispy

30% is very bad , hopefully you used proper fusing settings to keep the accuracy as closer to the original and I would not go lower than 0.05mm for fusing for that small object .
Make sure the import settings are set to mm in your software. Use OBJ for exporting meshes with measurement, make sure you remove anything that do not belong to the object before fusing and clean the mesh after meshing for lose points ( floats)

As Nick suggested calibration may be off as well

Download the newest version and re calibrate your scanner as Nick already suggested .

thanks for that info. I’ll double-check the fusing setting and try again and post results.
