Dear Revopoint, how are you handling the USA tariffs on electronics.
I am VERY tempted to get a Trackit on Kickstarter, but I won’t want to spend $3500 and then get a tax bill for another $1750 (could be more or could be less) come August.
It might actually be cheaper to wait until they are available on Amazon in the USA when Revopoint imports them in bulk and factors in tariffs on wholesale rather than the retail price.
What is Revopoint’s position on this? Is the purchaser the “importer” and responsible for the tariff on full retail (Kickstarter) price or will Revopoint use an importing company and we pay a reduced tariff based on a whole sale price? Or is Revopoint not even addressing this issue because it is not their problem/fault?
Hi Bruce , I forwarded your question to the team and they will reply to your soon.
Personal though, there was always tariffs on electronic above $850
Right now it is not different 20%
Unless the specific electronics uses on semiconductors then 50% tariffs.
This Tariffs was in place long before the new administration, so not much changes since last year.
Import TAX are the duty by the importer so in this case the actual customer, Importing bulk of products and sell via Amazon USA still not make any difference , it still need to be paid.
The price on KS are not high because of the tariffs, it is because of the new technology being used.
No matter what you decide KS still will be your best deal .
I talk to the team and they will give you the answer soon after having a meeting about it and made proper decisions on everything .
They said that purchasing (backing) Trackit on KS will still be the best price you can get regardless where it going to be sold later in USA , Amazon or not
With import and state tax or not.
The retail price without State 7% and Import tax 20% will be around $4988 so definitely better to order it and bake on KS .
