Revopoint MIRACO 3D Scanner: 3D Scanning Redefined | Coming soon on KICKSTARTER

Personally i am waiting for a new mini replacement, same or better accuracy and easier to handle. So that coin imprints stay as sharp as on the original piece.Best would be to implement these improved mini capacities to the MIRACO. So that you can scan delicate surfaces all in one with more smooth areas and just hav to change scanning distance.

You can say that Iā€™m a skeptic or a bore, but I think that the shape of the scanner is not the best. It wonā€™t be very comfortable to hold, especially if you scan the entire helicopter, as in the advertisement. But the stated characteristics are very promising.
In addition, you still need a computer to process the scan result. Therefore, the topic of saving on a PC is not entirely correct.

48MP RGB camera
Probably the most exciting feature for people who want to create textured scans!
I canā€™t find the camera resolution for Range, POP3, INSPIRE in the specs, but I assume itā€™s under 5MP?

Interesting design, I was in the process of trying to create a more compact INSPIRE/POP3 mobile scanning, I was thinking I could use a flat external battery instead of a handle, looks like the Revopoint team was way ahead of me!
The articulated screen is a nice feature.

I was dreading that phrase ā€œbetter than the Rangeā€

I really enjoy using the Range, itā€™s a great bit of kit, but an all in one, thatā€™s tempting.

If anyone says ā€œBetter than the Miniā€ I might just cry.

You can do that , since your fusing function will be set on the last mode you are using , thatā€™s not how a scanner is working , your object have 0.05mm point cloud distance or 0.5mm it canā€™t be fused with multiple point distances, you will have only one fusing settings.
You may scan small parts and big parts and then merge it later in RS5 on computer but the fusion still can only have one point distance at a time .

I suggest you make 2 scans in one project and merge it on your computer , however you will get always a line between the 2 scans as each of them have different point distance ( resolution )

MIRACO donā€™t use blue laser as MINI so using infrared it will never have that level of smoothness, plus the accuracy is 0.05mm with a single frame of 0.02mm
It is still in Beta , so it will take some time to reach the full capacity.
Miraco have 2 scanners in one , not one scanner for all ranges , so you have to switch regarding of the scanned object .

You canā€™t scan small object and switch to continue scanning with second bigger range scanner or vice verse . For that reason there are 2 modes and 2 scanners in one body.

:joy: sorry Gary ā€¦ I love my Range , it was my favoriteā€¦ but MIRACO just enter the next level , I can scan what Range canā€™t without tracking issues . For example my room wall can be captured easier and literally you can take a single 3D picture of anything regardless of tracking features or not .

Is it better than MINI ? Well I am not there yet with my optimal testings , it donā€™t use blue light lesser so it may be slightly less but I canā€™t confirm yet 100% since it is still in beta and software is improving .

But the far distance scanner mode is already excellentā€¦
I still prefer to edit it on PC after scanning for even higher quality .

Actually it is very comfortable to hold even with one hand .

The import is so easy , you have 2 ways , plus you can direct connect to the MIRACO hard drive and copy all projects at once to your computer .

For high quality of meshing , it is recommended to process it on computer
But the good thing is , you donā€™t need phones, tablets and long cables . So scanning is much more comfortable and truly portable . The Software also include editing tools so much more advanced as it is right now on phone apps .
It is more powerful than a phone ā€¦

The purpose of MIRACO is to take it with on location and perform scanning without the need for any extras . Compact design for most needs.
No professional will sit editing projects on a phone size monitor . It is more for a visualization while scanning and eventual pre-preview of final scan .

Hi Benoit ,

I always use flat power bank in my pocket and USB cable for powering and it last forever .

P.S I did used it to recharge my beta MIRACO unit as well as it support fast charging .
However the included 65W outlet charger is the fastest .

Hi @Spejhle

I just made some tests using your scenario .

  1. You scan finer details using the near scanner mode
  2. You pause and switch to Far scanner mode making sure the scanner pickup the tracking of the already scanned fragment
3 , You finish scanning and fuse the whole scan at 0.05mm to preserve the fine accuracy .

4 . You get fused files with more density around the fine details
5. You meshing the whole scan , you will get slightly difference in surface appearance where the accuracy was lower , because fusing low accuracy at higher resolution will need to add missing points so the transmission between both accuracy is visible and need to be manually edited in 3D modeling software

And that is normal behavior as I mentioned before .

Scanning separately both areas with proper fusing resolution will give you better smoother results on both parts that can be merged and meshed after .

So always start with the Near mode and then Far mode , not reversed to preserve the finer details .

hmmm very interesting unit. if you need a tester please contact me. but i am sure you have many offers already i like the look of this. very interested.

This sounds AMAZING! A year ago I was asking for a better camera for better textures I canā€™t believe it! You did it! Super excited about this one. Iā€™m still testing my new POP3, and even though some textures look good, and the quality is much better than before, Iā€™m still not satisfied. But this? Sound promising!! Canā€™t wait to see it! :sparkles:

It is a Miracle Richard
2 scanners in one :joy:

Is there any change to add blue laser to final products for short range focused scanner function ? It will be more costly but that make this beast more amazing.

Not really , that would delay everything , the design was already created in the begin of the year , it is not from " yesterday" changing hardware would throw everything backwards ā€¦
Our beta testers / users already working on showcases as well .

Blue laser produces smoother results in general , but there are also side effects using blue light and color materials ā€¦
Infrared is versatile ā€¦
The new software will take it into account to compensate it with very good results .

beside it has standalone computer, is the spec of scanning resolution covered mini+ range?

0.05mm accuracy is POP3
Resolution not much to do with anything

You can have acuracy of 0.02mm and resolution of 0.2mm it will be still better than accuracy of 0.05mm and resolution of 0.1mm

Structured light scanners accuracy is based on the closest distance that the scanner can perform, and in this case it is 0.05mm

MINI is a Structured Blue laser light scanner with 0.02mm accuracy what is much better . It can capture 7-10 microns details meaning it is better than 0.02mm

MIRACO will be technically also better than Range I believe .

But but but ā€¦ it is still a beta ā€¦ everything can and will change ā€¦ nothing is yet written in a stone
