Pulling Dimensional Data from 3D Scans of Brake Discs to create 2D drawings

Hi, new to the Revopoint platform and purchased a MetroY Pro scanner. I have successfully scanned a brake disc and was able to merge the top and bottom scans of the disc correctly to create the full 3D part. All I want to do now is pull the dimensional data from the mesh or STL files to create 2D drawings from. I have tried Fusion 360 and just downloaded the RevoMeasure free trial, but I can’t seem to figure this out with either. Part of the problem seems to be that I can’t orient the parts correctly or create planes on surfaces to set the XYZ axis. I just need diameters, lengths, thickness, etc., all pretty standard stuff. What is the simplest way to do this?

Hi @Need2

Just export the 3D model from Revo Metro as OBJ , STL files do not include dimensions of 3D model . OBJ do in mm

You can also download free Cloud Compare software, import the OBJ and measure quickly the all dimensions by placing points

I will tag in one of our trusted member Jermaul that use Fusion 360 , he may help you out as well.

@Xile6 ( thank you in advance )

I have a video on the basic.

It should helpnto figure out the rest. For getting the thickness you will want to create a plane on both side and measure the distance.

In revo measure it is pretty simple. Import stl and then click.

Measure > Plane

The rigjt side panel under create. Change the selection mode to point.

Double click to place a point. Put 3 points on a flat plane. The click create. Do the same for the bottom plane.

Then top right clickthe distance icon.

The drop down box on the right would be plane 1 and plane 2. Then click mesasure.
