Which is it?!? “Here is the video explaining how it works” or “no data will be available about this amazing product that we want you to buy”? The lack of coordination is astonishing.
Right now only teasers and nothing else until Kickstarter starts.
To scan big objects like a car, you will need to create section that you will scan and use included magnetic 5 markers on the edge between the 2 sections and use multiple section scanning mode that allows you to move the tracker between sections if needed.
Scanning using just tracker mode without markers don’t allow you to move object or tracker.
The maximum distance between the scanner and the tracker is 4 meters and the minimum distance is 1.5 meter
The minimum distance between the scanner and scanned object is 20cm and maximum 40cm.
It is used only for the calibration , it do not change the position of the tracker while scanning , both of them are used for Auto calibration of scanner and tracker.
The motorized device is also used as connection base for all cables including power when you setup the tracker on the tripod , meaning all cables are connected to it , then one cable goes to the scanner and one to the computer, the cables are very long so you can move freely around.
The Trackit system have 3 modes,
- Tracker without markers ( no objects or tracker can be moved while scanning )
- Tracker section scanning ( used for scanning big object where you can move tracker and scan completely the big object section by section until you complete the whole scan )
- Marker mode ( where you use your own markers and scan objects like with Metrox without tracker being involved , just your object and markers , you can use turntable with this mode when markers are available in the scanning plate or on the object.
Connecting the scanner direct to computer as standalone is impossible , neither you can remove it from the marker carbon fiber cage.
That’s all for today .. to be continued…
The lack of a “Full Field” mode in the new scanner is simply a huge minus and it is not very clear why it is not there.
That would be great to use Full Field without markers needed for fast scanning without worry of features. However scanning without markers don’t allow you to move the object and tracker while scanning so for Full Field it would be little problematic in some scenarios.
But since users are so obsessed with lasers and cares less about Full Field , here you go… Majority have spoken about their needs and Revopoint answered.
For that reason I am keeping MetroX because no one scanner can replace Full Field or Auto Turntable Blue light based mode in quality and details for my work.
I would have preferred the large mode NIR from Miraco. Would have been an incredible combo for very fast NIR scans when needed…
One can dream i guess
I would love that too, especially if you could scan in far mode without markers using tracker to capture at least quick the base.
Maybe they implement it last minute
Everything still possible ..
The first thing I checked when I got Trackit was for projector lol
But never say never .. hardware improvements changes usually short before final production what starts after Kickstarter is finished . So finger crossed ..
Nice job - would have loved this the other day on set. Had three large scale aircraft to scan, one of the black (thankfully matte) which we weren’t allowed to treat or put markers on, and obviously the relatively featureless areas of the fuselage caused some issues. This would have been a perfect solution.
I second that
Fantastic to see the Trackit being used, and to learn more about it’s functionality and scanning modes.
Would it be possible to attach the traking unit to the ceiling ?
Yes you can with some bracket as long the distance to the scanning object is below 3 meters
