Trackit is perfect for Reverse engineering jobs, with very fast capture speeds and no need for markers or scanning spray, Markers can be used for bigger objects but this first one it wasn’t necessary
This first part is a shaft from an electromagnetic brake or eddy brake,
I used both Trackit’s 30 blue laser cross lines and single line mode to get the deep holes
Normally this part would need scanning spray and markers to scan but with Trackit No preparation was needed, just stand it on the table and scan with 30 laser mode and single line mode
I continued scanning until everything was green and was happy there was enough data, I then fused and cleaned up the scan in Revoscan5, I then flipped the part and scanned again to get the other end of the part, I used merge to align the 2 scans using manual alignment
Next up we have a clutch basket from a ZF8HP50 gearbox, this is a cast alloy part machined with a highly reflective surface, this part is known to get damaged over time and fail so the plan is to machine new parts from billet alloy
There are some other parts in this gearbox that need the same attention,
Great work. I’m looking at picking up trackit, this is the kind of work I’d be doing with it. I’ve never used a 3d scanner before. Can you use single line mode and cross line within the same scan? Or separate scans that you then merge? Have you tried moving the tracker to continue a large scan? I’m curious how that works.
Sam is using older beta software in the video, the latest version I’m using has single line mode working, you have to stop the scan then change the setting for single line mode then resume the scan, hopefully Revopoint will work on this and make it a quick button click to change between 30 line and single line in the future
Yes you can move the traker if you do a multi-position scan and use the tracker to capture the markers, then you can move the tracker or the part, it works very well, I’m going to do another scan tomorrow that I will be using markers so i can flip the part over and continue scanning so i don’t need to use the merge function, I’ll take a screen recording of the process, and post it here
