Wireless scanning from shop to office PC (with Inspire 2)

Howdy,

I have an Inspire 2 (though I suspect this would be applicable to any recent scanner with wifi) and a capable desktop (Ryzen 9 5900x, 64gb, 5070) that works well with it in my office both wired and using wifi. Since wifi scanning you connect directly to the scanner and not via connecting the scanner to a network, it doesn’t allow me to do something I’d like to figure out: scanning in my shop\garage ~100-200ft away. My shop has a mesh router (Eero) for my network and has wired ethernet from the house. I have a ton of stuff I’d like to scan out there but toting my pc out there would be a pain in the butt. I have a lesser powered pc out there (for googling stuff, looking up parts, some CAD, etc) but it’s not powerful enough to scan with. I really would like to avoid buying another laptop if I could avoid it. The shop is a steel building so I don’t think the signal by itself has much of a chance of reaching out there.

Any ideas on how I could extend the network from the scanner to my PC in this kind of scenario? I can find ways to screen mirror to see what I’m scanning out there using the built in mirroring or remote desktop. I don’t mind spending a little on networking hardware if it’s reasonable, heck of a lot better than how much a gaming laptop costs.

Currently I have to bring stuff into the house, but I have cars, motorcycles, engines, large shop equipment that I can’t move for scanning.

Thanks!

Hi @Clayton

Just use your phone and scan using it wherever you want and process it later on your PC for better quality and faster time , you will not need any WiFi , the scanner has its own Network that connect to the tablet or a phone or just use laptop .

The infrared laser mode is not available on the mobile devices because they are not powerful enough to handle it.

If your garage is far away from your PC the Revo Mirrors software will not works if the distance is too big. The Scanned need to reach the PC with its own Network to make it usable .

Any other mirroring software will not help you either because the scanner still need to reach the PC within its own Network and there is no way to extend it.

I think the client mode in Inspired 2 is still not active other way it would be a better solution like using it via home router.

Connect the Inspire 2 via its own WiFi network to your PC and see how far it can reach, if it is far enough you can use Revo Mirror software .

If not you still can scan using the Full Field mode and your mobile device wherever you want.
