Fusion is throwing away a lot of data that appears in the raw preview. It almost looks like there’s an attempt at trimming edges. If that’s true, it needs to be both optional and have a strength-style setting. Even better if it were its own post-process.

Here’s a comparison of 5.6.4 and 5.6.5:

The raw preview is a minimalized preview it do not really show the real data complete , it is virtual preview only on a very low settings . If you go under the Raw edit you will see the real data

Note: This time, the restriction on NVIDIA graphics cards has been lifted, and all series of NVIDIA graphics cards are supported. Some graphics cards may have compatibility issues such as no point cloud or crash. If there are the above problems your card may be not good enough, in this case can use CPU acceleration to collect the model numbers of graphics cards with problems.

This version does not actively push software updates to users.

Forget I mentioned raw preview then.

Look at the comparison between 5.6.4 and the current version. Whole pieces of scans disappear. This comparison is after fusing at the same point distance. Sometimes some of the data returns after running optimize. Sometimes not.

The fusing will remove all the data points that are not connected directly to the main scan , it will reduce the time of cleaning after and was requested .
In the past lots of edges included lose points that caused issue.

It will not do that if the scan is complete without lose points .

There is no way to set it as optional because that are new fusing algorithms and not just a feature.

Raw preview under edit , showing everything including the bad data that one or another way need to be removed in process .
The main raw data preview in the viewport is simplified just for reference and not actual data

So yes your observation was correct but that’s not a bug but rather a choice , please process only scans captured in the current version as processing scans from previous version may not deliver the results you may expect as the capturing algorithms changed as well.
So testing one project in multiple versions is not really the way to go.

That’s all I have for you regarding this topic.

At least we know what “Fixes some bugs” means now.

Thanks for the right decision and supporting more GPUs !

On my older Notebook Lenovo Legion with i7 9750h and Nvidia 2060 performance skyrocketed from 18fps to 54 fps :rocket:  Definitely was not awaiting such performance jump. So not limited to my stationary PC Workstation anymore for laser scanning :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: THX AGAIN!
