I figured since I know 2 of us are having problems with USB3.0 or 3.1 ports not giving enough power for the POP that I would ask this here in the hopes that people who are using it just fine on a COMPUTER (NOT CELL PHONE) could post which motherboard they are using (if custom built) or the make and model of the computer you have that works.

For me I have the Gigabyte GA-AB350-GAMING 3 motherboard and it does NOT work with the POP on any of the USB ports I have tried nor does the POP work with the powered USB 3.0 hub I bought _sigh_

Using an ACER E-15 laptop; 6Gb memory, 2.2 GHz processor and 3.0 USB ports. My setup and first trial with the enclosed figure was perfect. Better than I expected considering all the posts about this and that not working, etc. I plugged it into the port and it was recognized instantly as the preview picture popped right up.

I haven’t gotten my scanner yet, so I can’t provide PC info and results. I do remember that there have been comments on some of the YouTube reviews that you need to run the Pop using a powered USB 3.0 hub (one that plugs in). You can get one on Amazon for about $20-$30 USD. I really like the Anker 8-port hub and have a couple I’ve been using for a few years.

Yep, I bought a powered USB hub because I thought that would work but I get the same results. Scanner does work on my cell phone when hooking it to an external battery pack and doing the hotspot stuff so I know it works at least a little.

I am using a Dell 7480 laptop. The three USB 3.0 ports and the one USB C port have all worked when connected to the POP.

I occasionally see that the POP does not connect. When this happens, removing and re-inserting the plug in the laptop does the trick.

I have read elsewhere on the forum that Handy Scan should already be open when connecting the POP. I have connected the POP and completed its POST routine before starting Handy Scan with no problem (I just did it now to confirm).

I have used mine on a Surface Pro 1 and Surface Pro 4, both on battery and mains power, no problems so far although the battery runs down really fast when POP is connected.

Macbook Pro, 16" i9.

Haven’t tried using it with the USB-capable Mac beta yet, but I have Windows installed under Parallels VM, and the Windows version of Handy Scan works just fine with a USB connection on any of the 4 Thunderbolt ports.
