I just got a POP and when using Handyscan i can only see the top left camera. The bottom left box is all red. As such i cant scan anything. All the videos ive seen of folks using it, the bottom box is always fully active, with what looks like the infrared view. Of course i have the latest version of Handyscan, 3.0.6, but my firmware is 1.8.2021… Is anyone else having this problem??
Usually, this means that the amount of infrared light on the scanned object is so high that it overloads the POP’s sensors. Less usually, it means that the POP is defective.
Try using the POP in a near dark environment with a white (but not shiny) object being scanned and tell us what you find.
This is definitely is a terrible first encounter with this company and product. Im a tech guy by nature, so i have everything from Ultibots Delta printers all the way to Vector Ai robots. Trust me i have multiple laptops and computers, endless power cords and usb. I have Makerbot Digitizers and Lidar Ipads… All this means is im very patient and tinkering is second nature. Ive tried this POP in all sorts of realistic lighting and even darkness. even with objects 1mm from the lense, nothing changes. I was hoping even something like “its not compatible with built in video cards” , so i tried a few Alienwares , with Nvidia and ATI cards. At this point ive reassured myself that its just a bad unit, which is terrible for a device that LOOKS like a member of the Kinect family but COSTS +$500. At this point i dont know what to do with this. Im totally willing to open it to try and fix whatever that could be killing it. I begin to regret not chosing the Creatlity Cr-01 scanner over this.
Hi @shogunnx ,
Sorry for the inconvenience caused.
May I know if you tried to connect the POP to your phone via Wi-Fi mode and see what happens?
If it also not work on your phone, could you please provide us a video to show the problem? Btw, please try to shake your hand before the scanner and record the video too. You can send it to forum@revopoint3d.com and CC customer@revopoint3d.com.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Best Regards
Cassie
Hi @shogunnx ,

I noticed that you plug the POP into your touchpad, may I know if you can test it with your phone via the Wi-Fi mode and see if it works? (You can use a power bank as the power supply. For the Android connection method, pls check this manual:
https://www.revopoint3d.com/wp-content/uploads/download/POP%20Android%20&%20iOS%20(iPhone%20&%20iPad)%20Handy%20Scan%20Instruction%20v2.1.5.pdf -
Put the sample sculpture (the Agrippa) in the front of the POP, and move the distance from near to far, and record a video to us.

Put your hand in the front of the POP and shake, and record the video for us, thank you.
Send us the video of all the above steps, then we can confirm if it is defective or not.

Cassie
Ill do that, just as protocol im guessing. However, im sure its not meant to be used by normal people in such a specific, tiny window of circumstances.
