# Is the structured light used in the RevoPoint Inspire used as stripe projection or just a random pattern for added texture on the scanned surface?

basically the title, the webpage states it uses structured light, but it is unclear to me if it uses a stripe pattern to gain 3d information, or if it simply projects a random pattern to add structure to the surface for the stereo cameras to use.

Hi @SleepingSumo

it uses a 2 patterns projecting it left and right separately ( stripped pattern ) it is a DLP laser infrared projector so it projects a laser stripped pattern ( no textures )
