So I see a new version dropped today and had to test it out. Just happened to have a drone arm I needed CAD on so I gave 5.6.5 a shot.

Prior to this release things like black carbon fiber were very problematic for MetroX, and would typically require spray. I did not spray this and just let 'X have it’s way.

I did get two failed attempts as the model shifted for some unknown reason. I did have the depth/exposure set to auto, I wonder if that caused it. Can share the file if anyone is interested.

Also, the 'X still struggles to get a crisp edge, often they are jaggy and noisy.

All in all tho, great progress, much faster and the results look really good. I can clearly reverse engineer from this. Giant shout out to the development team. Well done!

It’s clearly better, but still struggling with things like the black anodized posts which are lightly knurled. Also, seems like I can’t stay in markers with as much angle to the marker as I used to be able to do. Before, if we call 90° perpendicular to a marker, I could get down to like 20-30° and still pick up a marker, now it’s only able down to maybe 45° before it can’t ‘see’ the marker.

Probably a part of getting rid of those phantom markers.

I also let 'X scan at the default resolution this time (.4mm) which seemed to speed things up even more.

Can anyone answer why when we go from scanning to fusion to mesh it doesn’t keep the same resolution? If I scan at .4, I’d think we’d fuse and mesh at .4 as well, instead I have to set it to that. Seems odd that the software doesn’t keep the same resolution in all the modes - at least default to that.

I still like this version better than the prior one, but there’s still work to be done 🙂

You have couple of points very closer together , it can create a “jump” while scanning , any markers need at least a 3 cm distance from each other no matter 3 mm or 6 mm .

Nice scan anyway ..

Hi @MonsterMaxx , thank you for sharing your experience!

Could you pls check the chat box? I sent you a msg to confirm this problem:
“Before, if we call 90° perpendicular to a marker, I could get down to like 20-30° and still pick up a marker, now it’s only able down to maybe 45° before it can’t ‘see’ the marker.”

Thank you in advance.

well, I’d call it progress anyway, looking back, this kind of thing would have to be SPRAYED on the prior version. Great progress team, keep it up.

Took me about 15 minutes to make a nice CAD model out of it too.
