Bad point cloud data

I just completed a fairly large scan and I’m running into an issue importing it into PolyWorks.

I cleaned up the scan, created a good mesh, and exported all of the models. However, when I try to import either the PC.obj or PC.ply into PolyWorks, I keep getting a “Bad Data” error.

I am able to import the mesh, but for some reason it comes into PolyWorks at approximately 200% scale.

For a sanity check, I scanned a smaller part using the same process and had no issues. Both the point cloud data and the mesh imported correctly and at the proper scale.

Has anyone else experienced this with larger scans? I’m trying to figure out if this is related to the size of the scan, the exported file, or something happening during the PolyWorks import.

The exported models are in mm , check your import settings in your software . Looks like you importing your models in cm instead of mm .

That I have. I don’t have any issues with other things have a scanned. With this piece being larger than normal, is there some type of size limit that I could be running into?

No all objects are measured in mm regardless of their sizes. Maybe you exported it in different format , OBJ is the best here as it actually contain all size information , export it again as o j and import to your software.
